Course Descriptions


Bible

BI110 New Testament Survey (1 Credit Hour)
An overview of the New Testament, covering many of the basics of each book, as well as many of the often troublesome passages in each book; the course also emphasized the Gospels.

BI112 Old Testament Prophets (1 Credit Hour)
An overview of the prophetic books emphasizing the theme of each, as well as giving some of the biographical information on the prophets themselves; and putting the time of the prophets into perspective with the rest of the Bible.

BI113 Acts (1 Credit Hour)
A distinctive study of the birth of the church, the initial spread of the Gospel, the unique role of the Holy Spirit, and the churches struggle with the transition from law to grace.

BI115 Romans (1 Credit Hour)
An in depth study of the book of Romans exploring the doctrines of justification, sanctification and glorification.

BI117 Prophetic Books (2 Credit Hours)
A detailed exegesis of key Scriptural texts will be given to allow students to chart a comprehensive timeline of things to come. The course will also review the accuracy of past predictions in both Old and New Testaments, as well as their present and future implications.

 

Christian Growth

CG100 Joy of Learning (.5 Credit Hours)
A course that stimulates a life long love of learning. This includes practical tips for studying and note taking; as well as a philosophy on education emphasizing stewardship of the gifts each has been given.

CG102 Personal Development (3 Credit Hours)
This course incorporates Bible reading and Bible memory assignments as well as practical Christian ministry work into a yearlong accountability and discipleship program. The group studies, discussions, and activities of this course are designed to promote personal and inter personal growth under the headship of Christ.

 

Doctrine

DO100 Bibliology (1 Credit Hour)
A study of the origin, history and character of the Bible. Specific topics such as revelation, inspiration, illumination, interpretation and application will be taught.

DO105 Christology (1 Credit Hour)
This course will focus on the theology of God the Son, His incarnation, aspects regarding the hypostatic union, and His work on the cross.

DO101 Living God (1 Credit Hour)
This course delves into the essence and attributes of God, including Trinitarian relationships and God's personal relationship with man.

DO102 The Two Kingdoms (2 Credit Hours)
A schematic approach to the plan and purpose of God throughout the ages allows students to begin charting a timeline of world history which they can add onto throughout the remainder of the year. This course also teaches students to contrast God's original creation with the counterfeits posed by Satan. An emphasis on the book of Genesis reveals Christ's character as both Creator and Redeemer.

 

Science

SC100 Geology I (3 Credit Hours)
This course discusses the problems with current dating methods, explains the fossil record, and the formation of land forms and geography from a young earth perspective. This class includes a field trip which stops at Yellowstone, Channeled Scab Lands, Lake Missoula, and finally Mt. St. Helen's in order to study these geological formations firsthand.

SC101 Geology II (3 Credit Hours)
This course is a continuation of Geology I and includes a field trip to the Grand Canyon with stops at Arches, Moab, Natural Bridges, Zion, and other National Parks and Monuments in order to more specifically study the effects of the world wide flood of Noah.

SC111 Micro Design (1 Credit Hour)
This course discusses many features of God's design in creation including the intricate parts of the bird's feather, human hair, skin and the womb.

SC113 Astronomy in the Bible (1 Credit Hour)
A course covering the basic ideas of planetary motion and our solar system. Scriptures that use astronomical language and ideas will also be discussed. And basic arguments which discredit the Big Bang Theory and other evolutionary theories will be given.

 

History

BI100 Old Testament Survey (1 Credit Hour)
This course is an overview of the majority of the Old Testament with specific emphasis on the 11 foundational books which relate the story of the Old Testament.

HT101 Church History (2 Credit Hours)
A comprehensive course tracing the growth of the church from it's birth shortly after Christ's resurrection, through the struggles of the early centuries, to past the expansion across Europe and finally to modern times.

 

Philosophy

PHIL100 Philosophy (1 Credit Hour)
A discussion of various world philosophies as they relate to a Christian worldview encourages students to formulate a clear and cohesive personal philosophy based on the Christian worldview.

PHIL101 Apologetics (2 Credit Hours)
Presenting the flow of thought in societies throughout history, this course will better enable students to understand the world they live in. Students will also learn principles for defending their faith by using lessons learned in previous courses.

 

General

P.E.100 Backpacking (2 Credit Hours)
Students will experience a one week backpack trip in order to encourage interpersonal relationships, as well as promote personal character growth. Outdoor survival and stewardship of God's creation will be taught in this hands-on experience.
